Welcome to the Compound
Whether it was by chance or on purpose, you have now successfully stumbled across my small website which is dedicated to my collection of 12" action figures. Just to give you a brief background, I started collecting 1:6 scale figures about ten years ago now when companies like Hasbro, Soldiers of the World, and 21st Century Toys were putting out figures in abundance. Back then you could walk into any Toys R Us or Target and you had your green Isle (action figures) and your pink isle (barbie). You also had companies like BBI and Dragon that were producing what was then "high end" figures.
Things have changed a lot over the course of the last several years, Babs still has her pink isle in most stores, but you will be hard pressed to find a 12" action figure in most stores. Hasbro, SOTW, 21C are no longer players in the game and BBI and Dragon are hardly even producing figures any more. Most people either have quit collecting due to the lack of availability of decent priced figures, turned to Big Lots and started grabbing up Power Team Figures or they do like me and buy mostly nude figures from the now high-end companies and buy parts piece by piece and build their figures. Then those who are fortunate enough to be able to afford the newer high-end figures like Enterbay, Hot Toys, and Soldier Story which now will normally cost you between $125 - $160 for a boxed figure. Me personally, I don't buy many boxed figures any more, however from time to time I will splurge and drop the big dollars on one that I feel is a must. I make a weekly recon to Big Lots to check to see what they have in-stock for Power Team, because their figures have really come around and for only $10 you can normally get a pretty decent uniform and some cool accessories. I also buy a lot of nude figures or just the head-sculpts and do a lot of kitbashing. Anyways, I've babbled long enough.... Welcome to the COMPOUND! |
