20 questions with myself....
What's your Name?
- Voodoo
- LOL, no, my real name is Jay
- First of all, they are not dolls - they are 1:6 scale action figures, most with over 30 points of articulation. As a child, I had toys up until I was about 13 or so. As an adult I've been collecting for about 15 years now. So, I'd say a grand total of almost 30 years - with about a 15 year hiatus in the middle.
- Primarily modern military or military style figures. However, as I'm getting older I am enjoying getting back to the roots and I've been picking up GI Joe Adventure team figures and gear lately.
- Flash Force, OSW, SSF, MWD, The Sand Box, The Adventure Team HQ, and many others that are now on Facebook.
- Yes I am on Facebook, and honestly I use it primarily for enjoying the GI Joe hobby. I can spend hours just perusing different people's sites and seeing the things they come up with and getting ideas from them.
- Absolutely. I've made many great friendships with people because of this great hobby, and meet up with them as often as we can. This hobby has a way of bringing people from different walks together.
- I'd say a little of 300. I probably have about 150 - 200 on display in my Joe Room that I'm constantly updating, changing or just enjoying looking at.
- Yes, that's correct. Luckily for me, I have an awesome wife and family that supports my plastic crack addiction...LOL
- She's very supportive. She takes interests in my projects when I'm working on things, she offers ideas, picks things up for me when she's out and about that she thinks I can use with my collection. It's awesome having someone that busupports your interests and hobbies. She even goes to the conventions with me.
- I have several female figures, and they too are action figures - fully articulated. So not like Barbie at all. I refer to them as my Tactical Hookers, although that's a term that some collectors don't care for.
- Eastern North Carolina.
- God willing, I'll still be collecting. If I'm at 300 figures right now after 15 years, I anticipate my collection will be around 500 in 20 years because as I get older, I get more select about my purchases. Who knows, I'll definitely still be collecting.
- Yes, buy a kid a GI Joe... That's what's going to keep this hobby going for years and years to come.
